What The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Can Teach Us - Part1
Last night I went out to see an orchestra play, and it was fantastic. However it was not your average orchestra. If you have heard any of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s music, then you will know what I mean. I have been a fan of them for a few years now, I always play their music during Christmas. So when I had the opportunity to go see them live, I jumped on it.
But what can a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert teach us about Internet marketing?
I have a few ideas and don’t want to bore you with another long post, so I will split it up into two parts. What I will be referring to in these posts is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert that I went to, not their cd’s or other products that they may have.
- 1. Have A Quality Product:
This might sound simple, and it is… but many people seem to skip this when creating a product to sell online. So it makes me think that either they don’t know about it, or that they just don’t care. Either way, they need to be told about it (again).
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has a tremendously great product. Their concert was one of, if not the best one I have seen. I knew that they were not an average orchestra, so I wasn’t expecting an average classical orchestra concert. But I was not expecting the amount of effort and time that they put into it. I will explain more in my second post.
I don’t see how anyone who was there would not have loved it. Would I go see them again? Most definitely!
- 2. Know Your Audience:
This goes for any product that you may be selling. Make sure that your product is geared towards those that will most likely buy it. If you are selling to new Internet marketers (newbies), then make sure that your product covers a lot of the issues that they will need to use your product.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra did this by speaking to this city’s audience, making them feel welcomed (not just happy for the ticket sale money). A lot of bands do this at their concert, they say something like “How’s it going Enter City Name?”, but I liked how the Trans-Siberian Orchestra did it. They had a DJ from a local radio station there, as well as talking personally about how they liked the city. I made me feel that they really were glad to be here, whether they were sincere or not.
- Do your customers anxiously wait for your next product to be released because they loved your first one so much?
- Do you give your customers what they need in order to properly understand and use your product?

Thanks for stopping by Jeremy…
Yes, the music to that Christmas light video is from them. It’s not one of their official videos… just someone used the music. Good choice though from the homeowner.
And no, your site didn’t make me barf, but it did make me a bit nauseous

I was just scrolling blogs and ran into yours. I am a huge fan of TSO. I’ve gone to see them each Christmas for the last three years. Though the shows were very similar, it never gets old! You made a good point about product as well. They definitely found their niche! Now, good luck to the rest of us.

I absolutely LOVE TSO!!!! Your analogy to Internet marketing is pretty swift too!
I don’t know if you have heard of James Brausch over at http://www.JamesBrausch.com , but he has a great example of the same Internet principals.
Hey, I really like your blog, and some of the commentors are pretty colorful too - especially the ones linked to the YouTube vids on Christmas Lights!
Merry Christmas to you and all of yours,

Over Googled?
This is interesting:
I was reading this article and thinking probably the single best example I could come up with to embody those principles would be James Brausch. I have one of the tabs in Firefox pointed at his blog constantly.
Glad to see there are some like-minded people floating around here. Keep up the good work!
