What Is Your Product Launch Formula?

I have always been interested in the launching of new products, seeing how people respond, and just the whole marketing of it. I think that has to be one of my favorite aspects to Internet marketing… the whole marketing side of it. I create products, make new web sites, make web graphics, and do just about everything, but it’s the marketing that I really enjoy.

How do you launch your products?

I have not “yet” purchased Product Launch Formula, but it is definitely near the top of my “to buy” list. Over the past year or so, I have been trying to launch my new products by doing more then just putting up a sales page and having it available to buy. I have been trying to do some of what I think is mentioned in PLF. Of course though, I know I am missing a lot, but what I am doing is more then I use to.

Here is a short list of what I try to do;

  • Build anticipation by mentioning to my list that I am creating something new.
  • Offer a contest. Give away a free copy of the product for whoever wins the contest
  • Using social proof. I ask for some testimonials from friends, and offer a free copy to some of my list in exchange.
  • Offer some kind of fast action bonus. Usually in the way of a discount.
  • Then offer an upsell or one time offer.
  • Tell them about my affiliate program so that they can sell the product for commission.
  • It depends on the product, as to how much pre-launch and bonuses to offer. If the product is a service that you have to perform, then you can offer a limited number of copies as well.

    Next time you launch a new product or service, create for yourself a new product launch formula. :)

    7 Free Ways To Get More Traffic

    Wait.. before you close this page thinking that I am going to list the usual free traffic methods, I won’t be doing that.

    We all know about;

  • Writing and submitting articles,
  • Link exchanges,
  • Forum marketing,
  • Blog post comments.
  • But I think we often forget, or don’t even realize the many other ways that we can use bring in free traffic to our sites (sometimes A LOT more traffic then the above free methods).
    I found a great report from Nicole Dean, explaining 7 different ways to get more traffic to our web sites.

    It’s a free report that you can download directly from here;
    7 Totally Free Ways To Get More Traffic

    Don’t worry, there is no subscription form. That link does directly to the pdf report.

    Enjoy!

    Membernaire by Jimmy D Brown

    If you have not yet taken a look at Jimmy D Brown’s Membernaire, you really need to.
    And if you haven’t heard of Jimmy D Brown before, you really need to. :)

    He is one of the great Internet marketers who truly delivers amazingly great content no matter what he is talking about. He knows what he is doing online, and is someone that I believe we all can learn a lot from.

    Often times when he wants to promote his products he will create free reports to distribute. These free reports are almost always a lot better then what you will find for sale. It’s no wonder he sells out of his limited products the way he does.

    Another great example of over delivering is his Membernaire product. The sales letter for Membernaire taught be a cool trick to use for my next membership site. He over delivers even BEFORE a visitor even purchases anything.

    Even if you have no interest to purchase, at least read the sales letter for Membernaire. You can do so here.

    Know Exactly What Your Customers Want

    Wouldn’t it be great if we knew exactly what our subscribers and customers wanted? Well, you can :) Many of us know how this can be done, yet we don’t do it.

    Have you ever heard of a thing called a survey? I am sure a lot of us have thought about using surveys to ask our subscribers what they want, but we never get around to it. If you are one of those people… are can be leaving A LOT of money on the table.

    How else can you ask your subscribers what they want with such ease?

    I have surveyed my subscribers a few times now, and have always understood their needs a lot better after seeing the results of the surveys.

    Here are a few survey tips which I have learned that may help you;

    - Do not have too many questions. I like using about 10 questions.
    - Try to use many “click” answer questions. What I mean by this is to use questions that they can answer by simply clicking. Example: “Yes” or “No”, or selecting a scale “1″ through “10″.
    - Take time writing the questions.
    - If you have multiple answers, make sure to offer an “Other” answer field.
    - Allowing essay style answers is great. But, it will take A LOT longer to compile those answers. A survey script can not compile the answers to questions that allow custom written answers.

    One more thing… people like free gifts :)

    I released a few surveys last year, each mentioning that if they filled out the survey that they would be able to download a free gift. These surveys resulted in quite a few subscribers answering them.

    However, I recently released a new survey. I did not mention anywhere about a free gift that they would download after filling out the survey (I did offer a gift though, I just didn’t mention it up front). For this survey, I received 1/4 of the number of results that I did with the other surveys.

    In all surveys, there will be those that for some reason do not want to spend 5 minutes properly filling it out. You will find that you will get a lot of quick answers, like “yes” and “no” (in the essay type answers). This will happen a lot more if you mention about a free gift up front, since many people will not care about your survey, just the free gift. People are just like that… and that’s all I’m saying about that for now :)

    As for what type of survey script I use;
    Right now I am using one that was included in my web host’s fantastico package. It is called “PHPESP”, and you can get it from within your cpanel fantastico package (if you have that), or you can get it from here.

    I have also used “SurveyMonkey” in the past, and I liked it then. I haven’t used it recently, so I can not comment much more on it. However it is a web based survey site, so you do not need to install it on your own web site. You can check it out here.

    So how can you know exactly what your customers want? Ask them!

    What The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Can Teach Us - Part2

    This is my second (and last) post about what can a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert teach us about Internet marketing?

    There are four things that I noticed from going to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert that can help us become better Internet marketers. The first two I mentioned in part1;
    - 1. We have to have a quality product,
    - 2. We need to know our audience and who we are speaking too.

    - 3. Over Deliver:

    The Trans-Siberian Orchestra knows very well how to over deliver. For a concert, I don’t expect it to go much longer then 1.5-2 hours in length. I understand that the band is actually working throughout this time, it isn’t a movie I am watching. I know I wouldn’t want to be working hard non-stop singing and more for 2+ hours.

    But, they really over delivered. The concert started at 8pm and it did not finish until 11pm… a full 3 hours! At about 10 pm I was expecting it to end soon, and I was kind of hoping it would, since I had to go to the bathroom :) But no, I had to wait another hour!

    - 4. Add More Value:

    Adding more value is sort of like over delivering, but a bit different. In this case, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra added more unexpected value by giving back to the community. They donated $1 out of every ticket sold to a local charity. This was a nice surprise when they announced it, something that as a customer, I did not know about before my purchase.

    - Are you over delivering on your products? Are you giving more then what was expected of you?
    - Do you add valuable bonuses to your products?
    - Do you add more value to your product then what the average person would have done?
