Nicole Dean The Affiliate Manager
Some of you may know of her, but I am sure most of you know of the person who she represents. Nicole Dean is the affiliate manager for Jimmy D. Brown.
I have been trying to think of one word to sum up Nicole’s affiliate management skills, I don’t think amazing is good enough.
I have had my share of product pitches, people asking me to promote their product, and most of them are fine. Most people are nice and considerate (obviously), but most do not say much more then, “Can you promote this for me?”.
From the first email I received from Nicole I could tell that she truly does care about her affiliates (or Jimmy’s). She took the time to visit my site (this blog actually) and send me a personal email. She asked me about the domain name and commented on the blog, then she talked about the product. To some people this may sound normal, and to some extent it is. I liked how she visited my blog and commented on it, and I thought that’s where it would stop. So I emailed her back to say I liked the product and would promote it.
But it wasn’t the end. She replied back to my email, like I had known her for years. In this email she didn’t say anything about the product, trying to hype it up, or anything like that. Just a friendly reply and she even talked about my blog again.
So I promoted the product a bit, made a few sales. I am not a big marketer, so I can not bring in the sales that I would think Jimmy is accustomed to. But nonetheless, she sent me an email a few weeks later saying thank you for the sales. It is one thing to email someone to ask for sales, but it’s another thing to send a thank you email when they do bring in some sales. This just confirmed that she does really care about everyone succeeding.
But this is still not the end yet.
Guess what I received in the mail last week? A thank you card with a gift card in it! She went out of her way again, but this time she sent a physical card with a gift. Like I said, I am no big marketer, so I was not able to bring in THAT many sales. If this doesn’t show how much they care and are dedicated to their affiliates success, then I don’t know what does.

Needless to say, I will be an affiliate of theirs for a long time to come.
This should happen more often. Good people still do exist.

That’s the way to treat your affiliates. Most companies only give you the VIP treatment if you are a super affiliate. What they don’t realize is that some of the smaller affiliates may one day become super affiliates given the motivation and encouragement.
Affiliate development is something that I don’t see a lot of companies doing. Most of them just think it’s enough to say hey, our program is the best, come join us and here are a few links/banners to promote our stuff. That’s just not going to cut it in the affiliate marketing scene in the future.

What a great testimonial to a great lady! Nicole is a friend of mine and we’ve worked together quiet a bit. She never fails to be someone who’s a pleasure to work with!
