Is It A Business For You?

Lately I have been receiving many emails from people who are interested in Internet marketing, but who are either brand new to working online or who are lost and do not know what to do.

Here are two of the more popular comments that I receive;

- How do I make money online?
- I do not have much money and/or time to spend online.

I think those two comments are the most frequently asked. There is nothing wrong with them, we all have to learn from step 1 how to work online.
But there are a few complications when it comes to those comments;

- How do I make money online?
The main issue that I see with responding to this question is that there is no one way to make money online. Many times when I get asked this question, the person asking is wanting 1 way that tells them exactly what they need to do. There are just too many different ways to go about making an income online, and that is where I think most people fail. They see one great way, but then see another, then another. They try them all, but then get distracted again by a 4th way, and in the end they never spend enough effort on one of the ways.

- I do not have much money and/or time to spend online.
When I receive a comment like that, I have to ask myself if this person is serious enough about their online business. And this is what I think most people struggle with, that working online should be treated like a real business, not a way to make some quick money. And this is what I want to really get across in this post.

Life today is busy, and many of us are in a lot of debt, so there is no wonder why so many people come online and see others making a full time income online, and want the same thing for themselves. That’s a good thing to want, to be able to be free from debt and relax more often.

But if you want to create a business for yourself, you will need to put in time and even money. If you have less time available, then it is very likely that you will need to put in more money. If you have less money, then the more time you will have to invest. Starting and maintaining a business requires time and usually money. Yes you can make some money online without spending any money, but you will need to invest a lot of your time and energy.

Over the past few months there has been some great information about starting a business on the internet, I encourage you to go watch some videos and read some blog posts.

Rich Schefren has released a few videos of great content for anyone who wants to really start a business online, go read his blog and maybe watch some of the videos here.

And Mal Keenan, a great guy who helped me when I was first starting online. On his blog he answers the question “What is the Whole Internet Marketing Concept?”, it’s a great read for anyone who is new to the online world. You can read it here.
